Q. Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).
I would say I have two options here:
1º The books that turned me from a average reader to the vacuum I am today were Anne Rice's "Vampires Chronicles". I believe that to be able to create so many different characters with their own personalities and make them real for the readers is amazing.
2º The book that helped in a difficult situation was not a book but a manga (fot those who doesn't know what is manga: think of them as japanese comics). "Paradise Kiss" helped me to believe in my dreams and to fight for them no matter what. It gave me strength when I thought I didn't have any left. If you are curious my review is
HERE.
And... yep, those are my answers. What about yours? :D

Hi, just stopping by on the FF. I read Interview with the Vampire and didn't love it, but I totally got it's importance in the history of vampire/gothic fiction. And that manga sounds good, I'm gonna have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteNice Choice :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my FF @http://le-grande-codex.blogspot.com/2011/08/follow-friday-2.html too
Thanks for stopping by my FF :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read manga in ages! If I ever start reading manga again, I'm definitely going to check out Paradise Kiss!
I'm an old follower :)

Thanks for stopping by on FF :) I have not read any of those books but my sister read the books by Anne rice and she loved them :)
ReplyDeleteReturning the follow! I love the Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice really opened me up to reading newer books--for a long time, I'd been a bit of a snob & was only reading classics :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Sadly, I have never read The Vampire Chronicles, though I have always wanted to!

That's awesome that you have two areas of books that have influenced your life! I want to read The Vampire Chronicles. I just need to get to them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of Ann Rice's vampire books, but I loved her Mayfair Witches trilogy so maybe I should give them a try. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm returning the follow :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Chronicles, interesting choice! Honestly, to me, Anne Rice really brought vampires to the forefront. Granted, the appeared in literature for 100s of years before, but she made them popular. It is really neat that you picked that series and a manga!
ReplyDeleteNew follower ^_^ Happy FF!!
Here's mine: http://sinnfulbooks.blogspot.com/2011/08/follow-friday.html
