Feature & Follow Friday (28)

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme created by Parajunkee and co-hosted by Alison Can Read where bloggers hop around meeting and following other bloggers.

- Follow Parajunkee.comAlison Can Read&(our hosts).
- Follow our Featured Bloggers - Roxanne @ Books and Blossoms &Head Stuck in a Book.
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.

Q: If you could “unread” a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over
and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?

Honestly? There is one book I will always regret reading because of the plot and the ending... The Brotherhood of the Holy Shroud by Julia Navarro.
And if you happen to run upon this post, dear author, I'm really sorry. But I did finish it... although I was in a very bad mood after doing so, sigh...

Anyway, HELLO & WELCOME to all my new followers and NICE TO SEE YOU BACK to all the old ones, remember that I'm celebrating my First Blogoversary + Awesome Giveaway and that as part of the blog tour we have 12 ebooks and one AMAZING jar thanks to Cicada's author, Belle Whittington.

If you begin following me through my FB Page or Twitter remember to let me know so I can follow you back ;)

Happy weekend, everyone!

Feature & Follow Friday (27) - Special Edition!

Some Fridays I participate in the Feature & Follow Hop @ Parajunkee's (whom is hoating this special edition).
And why the special edition, you may ask. Well, th answer is quite simple: this is the 100th time Parajunkee is doing the Feature & Follow Hop! And this one comes with a surprise ;)

In order to participate in the special edition every feature has to "host" another blog. And add a giveaway :]

So, the blog I'm choosing today is... Tales of the Inner Book Fanatic

Since I'm doing this as a surprise (because, you know, Erin comments in a lot of my posts and that makes me smile a lot^^) this is going to be short (but full of info).

- Follow Parajunkee.comAlison Can Read&(our hosts).
- Follow our Featured Bloggers - Beefcake and Babes &Le Grand Codex.
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.

Q: BeefcakeandBabes Asks: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing.
What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?

I love different and unique names and that's why I have a list, in a lovely and cute paper, of "Different & Strange Names". True story.

But If I have to choose a few to share here right now I would say: Haplo (Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman book's), Lestat (Anne Rice book's) and Tarod (Louise Copper book's).
And, of course, I love not only their names but also their stories ^^

Now, if yo excuse me, I have to read all the other participants answers. Just like new songs, I always need new names to love.

Hugs to everybody and Happy Weekend!

Feature & Follow Friday (25)

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme created by Parajunkee and co-hosted by Alison Can Read where bloggers hop around meeting and following other bloggers.

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
- Follow Parajunkee.comAlison Can Read (our hosts).
- Follow our Featured Bloggers - Book'd OutFiction Fervor.
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.

Q: Which book genre do you avoid
at all costs and why?

Easy peasy: memoirs. I'm sorry but I just can't read memoirs of people I don't know or I don't admire A LOT. Maybe a biography of someone like Steve Jobs (that's what you get to like when your husband is a geek xD) or a writer like Anne Rice.
The only memoir I would read for sure would be my mom's, but that's because she is just plain awesome ^^

Until a few months ago I would have said horror books but I'm getting there, you know, sometimes, if the book is not just plain gross I can read it and then feel proud of myself. But one step at a time, no rush here xD

What about you, guys? What genre you can even touch?

Feature & Follow Friday (24)

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme created by Parajunkee and co-hosted by Alison Can Read where bloggers hop around meeting and following other bloggers.

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:

- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.

Q: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to
get your hands on any particular book?

No idea... Hum, maybe it was when the last book of Harry Potter was coming out and my best friend and I, since we couldn't wait decided to buy the books in English (instead of Spanish) and went to the only store near us that we knew would bring them.

So there we were, two grown-ups entering the bookstore each 15 minutes to ask if the books had arrived and the lady (poor lady, seriously...) each time looked at us like "You've been here 15 minutes ago... you know they are not here, not yet!" but said, in a really polite voice "No, sorry, not yet... Maybe you can come back this afternoon or tomorrow".
And we, oblivious to our child-ish behaviour (come on, it was the last book, we were really excited!) answered "No worries, we have all day, we can wait".

Poor lady, I'm sure we drove her nuts xD

Happy Friday to everyone! And if you are a new follower leave me a commet so I can follow you back ;] It doesn't matter how you follow, maybe by GFC, maybe by e-mail or RSS, you can choose whatever you like best!

Feature & Follow Friday (23)

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme created by Parajunkee and co-hosted by Alison Can Read where bloggers hop around meeting and following other bloggers.

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
- (Required) Follow Parajunkee.com  & Alison Can Read (our hosts).
- (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers - Musings of a Book Lover & Badass Book Reviews.
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.

Q: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite
bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012

This is at the same time a very easy question (I simply love music and there's not a day I'm not looking for something new) and a very difficult one (since I'm always looking for new singers/band/songs there are plenty of singers/bands I like...).
But I'll try to make it quick^^U

Loai: Moroccan singer, I like only one song but it's so pretty and romantic. He is telling the girl he loves that her lover is not worthy of her and that she should look at him (singer) who loves her more than anything. The title means: Oh my eye, oh night.

Jessie J: Almost all her songs but right now I LOVE "Domino" and "Do it like a dude".

Dev vs Nikos Ganos: This is actually a remix of two songs but you can listen to them separately and they are still awesome :D

Two Steps from Hell: I discovered them a couple of years ago and they are amazing! I like to just sit, close my eyes and let the music transport me somewhere else.

Shinne: Korean band. I don't like too much their old songs but RingDingDong and Lucifer are pretty cool.

Linkin Park: I'm a HUGE fan. I have and love all their albums.

Evanescence: I love Evanescence too and I'm so happy they, finally, have a new album!

Pitbull: What can I say? I like most of his songs and/or collaborations. Right now I like this one:

I would go on and on about more groups and songs but I think that, right now, this is enough. And, as you can see, I like almost every kind of music out there xD

Happy Friday to everyone! And if you are a new follower leave me a commet so I can follow you back ;]

  • Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.

  • Q: Go count the number of unread books sitting
    on your shelf. How many?

Hahahaha, too many to count, believe me. I mean, these past months? I went nuts! Seriously nuts... But I have a good reason: I lost my whole collection of books and mangas (I'm 26 and I've been reading like crazy for as long as I can remember so they were quite a lot of books and mangas) and I couldn't cope with that too well... So I decided to buy a lot of books to re-built my old library and, since I was in the mood, added new books ^^U
So, yeah, I have, at least, 70 new books to read beside the ones I have to review.

Now I'm going to look at all your answers so I can feel better... I'm sure having at least 70 books in my TBR is not that bad, right?
    Right?! xD

    Happy Weekend to EVERYONE!!!

  • Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  • If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  • If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

  • Q: When you’ve read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away,
donate it, sell it, swap it..?)
I like to keep them to build my own library and since I'm re-building the old one I had (which I sadly lost) so far I think I'm doing good :D
But I also like to share the love so when I have two copies of the same book I put it in a pile aside that goes to one of my best friends in Spain^^ And she does the same for me^^ It's a good thing we both read in Spanish and English (in fact she is half English!).

Hugs to everybody and happy weekend!

  • Q: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love
triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

Very good question... Hum... I would say that I hate when authors can't be original. And don't get me wrong, I understand that some books (like Twilight) have so much succes that other people use it to get their books out there. And that's fine. But please, please, try to make it original, there's no need to practically copy a whole book and change a few words, a few names and the author's name.

So yeah, that's my answer xD

And, today starts the Book Lover's Giveaway Hop, make sure to participate to win $15 to buy books from TBD (International!).
And, if you could participate in my Emotional Experiment game it would mean the world to me, it's really important.
Hugs to everybody and happy weekend!

  • Q: It’s Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. so we want to know what you are Thankful for – blogging related of course! Who has helped you out along the way? What books are you thankful for reading?

Where to start? Well, first of all I would like to thank my blogger friends because the more I talked to them and read their posts the more I wanted to do the same and be part of this world.

To my husband for his patience teaching me to use HTML, for the hours I spent building my blog and the hours he spent correcting things. For enjoying every single post with me, for reading every comment you leave and for being there everyday with me, watching me type and watching me read all night.

To all the authors who, without knowing me, trusted in me and my blog to promote their books. For all the e-mails I exchanged with them, for their comments in my reviews or the RTs in Twitter.
To NetGalley who has provided me with a lot of ebooks to read these past months :D

And, most importantly, to my readers for being there. You have no idea how happy you make me with your comments, with your opinions in the ocasional discussion I post, with your feedback in every post. To know that you really read what I write and comment back it's just amazing. When I began this journey my reviews weren't that good, I needed to learn a lot and still need to improve my skills but I'm getting better at it and you are there, doing this journey with me. If I could I would give everyone of you a bear hug and a thank you with all my heart.

That's it, I don't want to write more because I'm sure you are all very busy.

As always, remember to enter in my giveaways (there's three right now), you can find them at the top of the side-bar. Good luck! :D

And, it would mean the world to me if you could check the "Emotional Experiment" game - press the name to play-.

My post about it it's HERE and, seriously, it's really good and it has something to do with a meme I'm creating that will see the light next week.
Spread the word about it too if you can, it's really really important to me.
    Thanks :)

  • Q: Letter to Santa: Tell Santa what books you want for Christmas!

I'm sure it would be faster to say what books I don't want for Christmas, specially since I lost my whole collection a couple of months ago...
Besides, the end of every year is my best time ever! You know why?! Because since my mom is from Peru and my Dad from Spain we celebrate A LOT! Let me tell you how:
    - The 21st of December is my B-day :D
    - The night of the 24th we always give presents (since this only happens with my mom's side of the family I assume is like this in every South-American country?)
    - The night of the 31st? More presents!
    - The 5th of January? We celebrate "Kings" which is very common in Spain but not at all known in Peru.

But since I got married last year and live far away from my parents I guess this year I'm going to have less presents... Hum... I should think about introducing these celebrations to my husband, what do you think?

Anywho, a small part of my list would be:
    - Hourglass
    - Blood Magic
    - Winter's Shadow
    - A Game of Thrones series
    - Stealing Phoenix
    - Mercy
    - A Touch Mortal
    - Pandemonium (not out yet but I can dream, right?)
    - The Space Between
    - The Hollow

And you guys? Let me know what books you want so I can add them to my list xD

Oh, remember to enter in my giveaways! They are international as long as The Book Depository ships to your country. You can find them at the top of my side-bar. Good luck ;)
    Hugs

  • Q: In light of 11.11.11 and Veteran’s Day tell us about your favorite soldier and how he or she is
saving the world. Fictional or real life.

I don't know any soldier personally and don't really have any fictional favorite soldier either so my answer would be: none.
Still, I believe, all of them, it doesn't matter from which country, are special and brave, very brave. If I could I would take a bow and give a hug to each soldier in the whole world because I believe they don't get the recognition they should and I honestly think they are amazing for putting their lives at risk to protect the lives of people they love and people they don't even know.

Besides this, don't forget to enter in my Almost There Giveaway to win $20 from The Book Depository and my Veteran's Day Giveaway to win an amazing ebook. Good luck to everybody and happy weekend!

  • Q. If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show
to swap places who would it be?

Hum, I would have to choose between two possibilities:

    - Cyllan Anassan from The Time Master Trilogy because, let's face it, Tarod has been my secret crush for at least 12 years. Yes, he is THAT hot and amazing.

    - Any vampire from The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice because I would LOVE to be next to Lestat, my other secret crush for at least 12 years too, and because I would love to be a vampire.

Ok, just in case, let me clarify that: I don't want to be a sweet, caring vampire, I prefer the old ones, like Lestat: bossy and cool with a touch of madness and tenderness.

And, to all my new and old followers, thanks for passing by and don't forget to enter in my ebook giveaway for Parallel here.

  • Well... This is it! I'm being featured!!! Woohoo!!! First of all, Thanks to Rachel from Parajunkee's for choosing me, her meme was one of the first ones I liked before being a blogger. I always thought it's a great way to meet new people, discover new books and have fun with the questions :D.
And thanks a lot to Alison too, specially for her reviews on manga... I really need to start reviewing manga soon... hopefully after my wedding I'll have more time.

Because, you all know, right? I'm getting married on MONDAY!!! OMG... I'm like hyperventilating here... hahahahaha. And right now I'm on holidays, that's why I haven't been posting too much latelly (sorry!).

So, if you want to give us a wedding present *crossing fingers* you just have to check my RAK at the side bar :D (The books of Game of Thrones would be for my fiancé). Of course, no need to do it at all but since we are already broke after all the expenses books would be an amazing gift, hehe.

And now, what you all really want to read:

Q.It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

Easy one, the Nevernever from The Iron Fey series would be my first choice, and then the world from The Time Master Trilogy... Louise Cooper's did a wonderful job creating a whole new world full of magic and marvellous characters.

For reviews just check my "Library/Reviews" tab :D

And, to all my old and new followers, thanks for being here. Stick around and enjoy my reviews, my giveaways and my craziness ;)

  • Q. Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story? If so, which one??

I'm thinking really really hard and... honestly I can't remember any villain that I wanted to see victorious... My only option would be Yandros from "The Time Master Trilogy". He is for sure one of my favorite character in the whole world because, well, he is a Chaos' God and he is mean and manipulative but cares for his "human" brother... you should really read this trilogy, is awesome. A-WE-SO-ME!

And, in case you are curious, my review of the first two books are: The Initiate and The Outcast.

Besides this a few news to share: in less than an hour I'm going to the airport and then I'm going back to Spain for a few days, woohoo!!! Sun. here I come! I'll try to post as much as possible, promised!
I will be back the 17th of September with my fiancé, my parents and a friend who is going to be my best man for my wedding the 19th!!! (omg... just 10 days... I'm hyperventilating already...). So, if by any chance, any of you want to give me a wedding present just check my RAK wishlist here (longshot, I know, but with all the arrangements for the wedding we are broke xD).

Anywho, see you later beautiful people!!! :D

  • Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

That's so easy. Vampires, of course. Sorry, I know there's been a lot of books about vampires in the last few years and somehow it's been tiring but the first paranormal book I read was "Interview with the vampire" and then the second book "Lestat the vampire" and I fell in love with the guy, who couldn't?! And then I didn't read the other books... I ATE the whole "Vampire Chronicles" series. Therefore, yeah, vampires are my secret (and no-so-secret) crush ;)

Speaking of Lestat, just in case you are curious, I prefer a LOT more Stuart Townsend's Lestat than Tom Cruise's Lestat. Not only Stuart's interpretation was terrific but the OST of "The Queen of the Damned" was awesome. And Aaliyah's interpretation of Akasha was amazing... I was devastated when I heard she died shortly after the movie.

What about you, guys? :D Since I'm in a rush just live me your comments and I promise I will follow you back when I come home ;)
