Cover reveal: Rua

Rua
by Miranda Kavi
Release Date: 3rd September, 2012

Official Blurb:

A girl with an unknown destiny.

A boy from a hidden world.

When Celeste starts at a new school in a small, Kansas town, she hears whispering voices, has vivid nightmares, and swarms of blackbirds follow her every move. She is oddly drawn to aloof Rylan, the other new student who has his own secrets.

The exact moment she turns seventeen, she wakes to a bedroom full of strange creatures, purple light emanating from her hands, and Rylan breaking in through her bedroom window.

He knows what she is . . .

Intriguing and deeply romantic, RUA is page-turning YA novel with a supernatural twist.

This cover is absolutely stunning, don't you think? The way the colors flow, the pattern going up her neck and the model herself are absolute beautiful. Once again I can only love this design by Claudia @ Phatpuppy Art.

And lets not forget about the blurb because it sounds SO intriguing I wish I could read it right now! This beauty is already in my wishlist, what about you?

Summary from Goodreads:

"I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.

So wrong for each other...and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

This is were World Wide Covers! steps in. Maybe I will post a comparison or maybe I will show you a certain cover for a graphic novel. Some news you may find interesting.
From where? Everywhere! Japan, Korea, India, Brasil, Spain, Italy, Germany, etc, etc.

Can you participate? Of course, the more the merrier, right? So here are the rules:

There is nor a special day to post this meme since you may find pretty covers any day but I will try to stick to Thursdays as long as I can.

This week World Wide Covers! features City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

City of Bones US cover

I'm sure everybody knows this cover and this amazing series, right? No surprises here, of course but, have you seen the Bulgarian cover?! No?! Well, enjoy it because it is really pretty. I'll be showcasing the next ones in the forthcoming weeks ;)

City of Bones

by Cassandra Clare
Release date: 10th February, 2010
Publisher: ИБИС

Summary from Goodreads: (translated by Google)
A thousand years ago the angel Raziel mixed his blood with human and created Nephilim. Human, poluangeli, they roam in our world, invisible, but always near us - they are our protectors.

They call themselves Shadow Hunters.

Shadow Hunters follow the laws written in the Gray Book, given to them by the angels. Their mission is to protect our world from invaders coming from other dimensions and called demons - creatures that roam between the worlds and destroy everything in its path. Shadow Hunters are tasked to keep the peace among Dolnozemtsite: human, poludemoni known to us as witches, vampires, werewolves and fairies.

In its mission are supported by the mysterious Silent Brothers, whose lips and eyes are sewn. Silent brothers took over the city of bones, city cemetery, located beneath the streets of Manhattan, which kept the bodies of dead hunters of shadows. Silent Brothers keep records of every Shadow Hunter since its birth. Among them are and the Deathly Hallows, the three sacred objects that the angel Raziel gave to their children: Sword, Mirror and Boca.

For a thousand years the Nephilim guarded the Deathly Hallows. But that was before the uprising, for which almost destroyed the secret world of the Shadow Hunters. Though Valentine, the Shadow Hunter that caused the uprising, is long dead, the damage he left behind hasn't being wiped away yet.

It's been fifteen years and the rumor that Valentine is back and brings with him an army of soulless means death is coming...

I fell in love with the US covers from the moments I saw them, the models were good (if not amazing!), the background city captures the eye very easily and the brightness it has is very seductive, don't you think?

But I also LOVE the Bulgarian cover. The concept is the same, the colors change a little bit and it's obvious they wanted to keep it very similar but whoever draw this is AMAZING! The guy's hair looks cool while his tattoos and that wicked expression complete the whole thing :]

What do you think about it?
Would you buy it?

Cover reveal: Days of Blood and Starlight (UK Edition)

Days of Blood and Starlight
by Laini Taylor
Series: Daughter of Smoke and Bone #2
Release Date: 8th November, 2012

Official Blurb:

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a new way of living - one without massacres and torn throats and bonfires of the fallen, without revenants or bastard armies or children ripped from their mothers' arms to take their turn in the killing and dying.

Once, the lovers lay entwined in the moon's secret temple and dreamed of a world that was a like a jewel-box without a jewel - a paradise waiting for them to find it and fill it with their happiness.

This was not that world.

And the UK cover is out! What do I think about it? I like it A LOT. But, do I like it as much as the US cover? I'm not really sure... I think the combination of fire with the deep blue sky making contrast with the stars is really nice and true to the book's name. Specially if you picture the tips of the fire as blood.

The main question, at least for me is, will I buy the US edition or the UK edition? ... ... ... I don't know!!! Oh man, I have the UK edition of Daughter of Smoke and Bone but, but... the US cover for this book is sooooo pretty too!

Sorry but I can not choose, not yet xD What about you, guys? And, just in case you haven't seen it before, this is he US cover.

This week World Wide Covers! features Legend by Marie Lu.

Legend US cover

As you can see the US cover is very simple -and shiny- but it doesn't give information about the book itself. Nonetheless, I think it's a pretty cover.

by Marie Lu
Release date: 28th May, 2012
Publisher: Shinchosha

Summary from Goodreads:
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

The Japanese cover design was done by Tatsuyuki Tanaka. And who is this guy? Well, if you are familiar with the movie Akira then you may know he was part of the design staff.

For those of you that didn't know there are a few exciting things about Legend going on right now so keep reading ;)

A game, created between Marie Lu herself, CBS Films and Wicked Sweet Games was recently released in Facebook! Cities of Legend will let you choose sides and fight for what you believe.

Book Review: Half-Blood

Half-Blood

by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Covenant #1
Release date: 18th October, 2011
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Pages: 281 (paperback copy bought by me)

Summary from Goodreads:

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden.
But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem... staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Cover reveal: Natural Born Angel

Natural Born Angel
by Scott Speer
Series: Immortal City #2
Release Date: April, 2013

Official Blurb:

Maddy explores her Angel heritage—and struggles to get her wings—as the Angels and the humans head for a showdown.

Life turned upside down for Maddy Montgomery when she found out she was half-Angel and was catapulted into the scene of flashbulbs, paparazzi, and fervent adulation that comes with
being in the celebrity Angel world.

And now Maddy must face the most difficult choice of her life. She’s been offered the chance to become a Guardian. This means dangerous and high-stakes training, with no guarantee that she can succeed. But more than that, it would mean leaving her mortal life behind—forever— and allying with the Angels at a time when their relationship with humans is heading for war...

Just like the first book in this series the cover looks really pretty and, at least for me, very alluring. As does the blurb :D
What I like the most? Her wings. They don't look like the typical angel wings, you know? They have a very different feeling.

Hopefully I'll be able to read Immortal City before this one comes out.

What do you think about it?

Cover reveal: Shades of Earth (Across The Universe #3) and I'm upset...

Shades of Earth
by Beth Revis
Release Date: 15th January, 2013

Official Blurb:

The final book in the trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis!

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience. But this new Earth isn't the paradise that Amy had been hoping for. Amy and Elder must race to uncover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. But as each new discovery brings more danger, Amy and Elder will have to look inward to the very fabric of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been meaningless.

So here I am, getting angrier and angrier by the second... Why? Well, I don't know about you but I love to have matching covers. It is, perhaps, one of the most important things about a series, specially when I look at my shelves. You see, every time my eyes pass by and I notice that I have different covers (or sizes) for the same series it HURTS. Like hell.

And I'm not kidding, I even cringe.

My point? I just noticed that Razorbill (AKA Penguin) made the cover reveal for Shades of Earth, the final book in the Across the Universe series. And it looks nothing like the previous books. At all. The worst part? They won't release a matching cover.
On the contrary, they will release new editions of Across the Universe and A Million Suns to match the thrid book cover.
And the three books will look like this:

Honestly? I don't like them that much. They certainly look different and it will increase the market which is why they are doing this. And I respect that. But they could, at least, release a few books for us, crazy people, that like to have matching covers.

So yeah, this is my opinion and you could even say I'm exaggerating. Maybe I am. But it's because I care.

I would love to know your opinion about this and to know if you, also, like to have matching covers.

Cover reveal: Scarlet

Scarlet
by Marissa Meyer
Release Date: 5th February, 2013

Official Blurb:

This book will feature Cinder and Little Red Riding Hood and will take place in France.

"Scarlet" is based on Little Red Riding Hood. It continues Cinder’s story as she attempts to escape Queen Levana’s vengeance and learn more about her past. The story also introduces readers to Scarlet, a girl living in southern France whose grandmother has mysteriously disappeared. In order to find her, Scarlet seeks the help of Wolf, a street fighter with more than a few mysteries of his own."

Love it. Do I need to say more? I've heard so many good things about Cinder that it's waiting for me in my TBR pile... if only I could read faster (and my family quit all the drama) I would be able to get to it soon, sigh.

But life is life and we can do anything about it so for now here I am, staring at the pretty cover and wondering what will happen in this book. The fact that it's going to have Red Riding Hood in it makes it even more appealing... that's one of my favorite fairytales!

I hope to love this series so much! :]

Waiting on Wednesday (13) feat. Stormdancer

- "Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted in Breaking the Spine. This meme spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
- If you want to participate add your "Waiting On Wednesday" to the linky list in her post!

This week my WoW goes to Jay Kristoff's debut book: Stormdancer. Why? Because since I set my eyes upon the UK cover I've been DYING to read it. And then the unexpected happened... The cover reveal for the US edition blew me away. Completely. Nothing was left of my sanity and I decided I was going to buy both editions. Yep, you read that right.
Reasons? Well, I'm getting to love steampunk books a whole lot now but, a steampunk book which plot develops in some sort of ancient Japan is just too awesome to be healthy. Can you imagine it? 'Cause after reading the blurb all I wanted to do was stare at both covers for a very long time.

And why my love for those covers? Let's see: The UK cover gives me some sort of peaceful feeling, of fullness, of honor if I may say. Very zen like, if you know what I mean.
The US cover in other hand is the complete opposite, it speaks of war, of blood and a girl ready to fight whatever comes in her way.

That's why Stormdancer is my WoW this week... and every other week too xD

UK Edition

Even though she can hear his thoughts, even though she saved his life, all she knows for certain is he’d rather see her dead than help her.

But together, the pair will form an indomitable friendship, and rise to challenge the might of an empire.
