News, news, news ^^

First of all, hi to everyone!

Today I'm really happy and excited... in a few hours I'm going to Paris to meet up with of my best Brasilian friend: Paulo Roberto... woohoo!!! As far as I know we will be staying in a simple but nice, and most important, centric hotel that I believe has internet available too but, since it's going to be my holidays I won't be posting too much (or nothing at all) until Thursday night, which is when I'm coming back.

In the meantime there's going to be an scheduled post on Wednesday night/Thursday morning... the Back to the Books Giveaway Hop!  So yeah, don't miss it xD As always is going to be international as long as TBD ships to your country. And the winner will get one book up to $10.

Hum... what else, what else... Oh yeah! My wedding and my holidays in Spain. Well, to make things short, I'm preparing my wedding in Switzerland since it takes less time than doing it in Spain (figures...) therefor we won't have too many guests (economy is really bad back in Spain for most of our friends...). But at least my parents, who are currently living in Peru, are coming and Juanma's parents too. Then 4 friends will be here to help us to arrange everything.
It's been difficult to prepare a wedding when I don't know how to speak German but at least I have a few friends who helped me a LOT. Believe me, they've been amazing.

But before our wedding we are going to Spain for 8 days (9th-17th, September) to have a little fun ;) And then our wedding is going to be the 19th of September.

A small picture of Malaga, Spain

Anywho, I just wanted to tell you all that I'm not posting as much as I would love to because I don't really have too much time in my hands right now. The good news? At least I can read a lot (it's the only thing that makes me relax) so after all this madness is over there's going to be a lot of reviews, hahahaha.

And, if you read all this then you definitely deserve a bear hug :D

I'll try to post a few pics of Paris soon, bye!

In My Mailbox (7)

In My Mailbox is a meme created by Kristi at The Story Siren that features books I've received/purchased/won during the current week.

Last week I didn't receive or bought any books for a very good reason: weddings are freaking expensive!!! And very time consuming... and if you happen to live in a place that is not your country and where people speak a very difficult language like German, yeah... try to arrange a wedding... Anyway, I'll tell you more about that later.

For Review:

- The Butterfly Clues
- Every other day
- The Mephisto Covenant

And, that's pretty much it :D In a few hours I will post one review and a few news ;)

Feature & Follow Friday (10)

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme created by Parajunkee and co-hosted by Alison Can Read where bloggers hop around meeting and following other bloggers.

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:

  • (Required) Follow Parajunkee.com  and Alison Can Read (our hosts).
  • (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers - Caught in the Pages & Jenni Elyse.
  • Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.
  • Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments
  • Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  • If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  • If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

  • Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

That's so easy. Vampires, of course. Sorry, I know there's been a lot of books about vampires in the last few years and somehow it's been tiring but the first paranormal book I read was "Interview with the vampire" and then the second book "Lestat the vampire" and I fell in love with the guy, who couldn't?! And then I didn't read the other books... I ATE the whole "Vampire Chronicles" series. Therefore, yeah, vampires are my secret (and no-so-secret) crush ;)

Speaking of Lestat, just in case you are curious, I prefer a LOT more Stuart Townsend's Lestat than Tom Cruise's Lestat. Not only Stuart's interpretation was terrific but the OST of "The Queen of the Damned" was awesome. And Aaliyah's interpretation of Akasha was amazing... I was devastated when I heard she died shortly after the movie.

What about you, guys? :D Since I'm in a rush just live me your comments and I promise I will follow you back when I come home ;)

    Introducing you... Video Sharing Thursday!

Welcome to my new feature: Video Sharing Thursday!

Yes, I know, it has nothing to do with books so why am I creating it? Well, let me tell you why:

    - I love music. I use it to express myself and to help me when I'm feeling down, you know? If I'm sad then I put some crazy-funny songs. If I'm feeling happy I choose something to dance around the house (I learnt that with my mom, hahaha). If I need something to chill out then some classical music helps me a lot and if I'm feeling dark (yeah, dark xD) then I listen some rock bands and by doing so my friends and family know that is not the best moment to mess up with me, muahaha *evil laugh*.

    - Helps me to read. Not always but sometimes I like to have a soft background music when sitting by myself with a good book, I think it improves the setting of the book if you know what I mean.

    - I like different genres, no kidding. Classical, Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B, Heavy Metal, Hindi, J-Pop, Samba, Forró, Reggaeton, etc etc... I think it has something to do with my blood, hahaha. My mom is latina and we feel the music in our blood but I'm a terrible dancer when it comes to salsa (I blame it on my dad's side, he is Spanish and hates to dance) unless, of course, you give me a glass of rum and coke - which we call cubata-, if you give me one of those then somehow I'm a terrific salsa dancer xD Weird, huh? I know. The same happens with samba and forró, I lived in Brasil for a few years and I kind of learn to dance both of them.

    - Then we have Hindi music, the reason I love it is funny. Everywhere I go nobody believes that I'm from Spain nor from Peru, most people think I'm from the India. Their reason? My eyes and the color of my skin.  Even Indian people come and talk to me in the middle of the street, in Indian!!! And I'm like "sorry, sorry, I don't understand you..." and then they stop and talk to me in English. It's hilarious, hahaha. So one day I decided to watch some Indian movies, to see if I could find some resemblance... and I'm not still sure if there's any but I fell in love with the movies, the songs and the choreographies. They are AMAZING!

    - J-Pop comes from "Japanese-Pop". I'm a huge fan of manga and anime so listening to japanese music was obvious. And I enjoy it a lot.

    - I've been discovering... mmm... what do you call them? Indie bands? Indie singers? Hum... feel free to help me here, my English sometimes is limited, sigh... Anyway, yeah, Youtube is a really good way to find new voices out there and, I'm telling you, some of them are awesome. True story.

I'm sure I could find more reasons but I don't want to bore you to death so I'm going to stop here, hehe. So, without further ado... my first two videos that will be featuring an Indian movie:  "Dil Bole Hadippa" The story is utterly funny: Veera travels the whole country with a theater company owned by her uncle but her dream is to play cricket in a big league. The only problem is that, being in India, only males are able to participate in big leagues (the women leagues are barely known).
One day the team of the town they are performing open their gates to meet and accept new players... so she decides to disguise herself. Now she is Veer, her "twin brother". Finally she is accepted and her dream is about to come true... until Veera falls in love with the captain of the team, Rohan, who was raised in England.
Rohan's dad asks Veera to show his son that India is actually a country full of nice people and lovely sightseeings. And then Rohan falls in love with her too...
    Enjoy!

And, BTW, if any of you want to share with me videos feel free to leave me a comment or, if you want to participate and share your love for music just copy my badge, create your post and leave a comment with your link so I can pass by and have a look :D

    Waiting on Wednesday (7)

    - "Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted in Breaking the Spine. This meme spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
    - If you want to participate add your "Waiting On Wednesday" to the linky list in her post!

I've been seeing my choose of the day for a long time now and I do believe the cover is really pretty so, without further ado... my choice:

    Name: Incarnate
    Author: Jodi Meadows
    Release Date: 31st January, 2012

    Official blurb:

    NEWSOUL
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.

    NOSOUL
Even Ana’s own mother thinks she’s a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she’ll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are suspicious and afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?

    HEART
Sam believes Ana’s new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana’s enemies—human and creature alike—let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else’s life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?

Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life.

For me it sounds really interesting and intriguing. The soul's plot is very refreshing, at least for me, and the love story behinds looks sweet and touchy. I think my romantic side is calling me, hahaha.

Anyhow, what are you guys waiting for? ;)

But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. It's Monday! What are you reading?! (9)

    On my Wishlist (8)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. If you want to know more click here.

Today I'm really conflicted, hahaha. Early this morning I wanted to go an torture myself going to the bookstore (and I say torture because here the books are so expensive it's really difficult to buy one, it's easier to order them but then I have to wait at least a week...) and I saw a pack, a whole pack of one of the series I'm dying to have and it was way to expensive... but I want them so badly!!! Sigh...

    A Game of Thrones
    by George R. R. Martin
    Official Blurb:

Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens.

Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; and a determined woman undertakes the most treacherous of journeys. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs perilously in the balance, as each endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.

And my romantic side calls for this book... I mean, who wouldn't want to read this book?! Sounds like a fun, exciting and sweet story, I'm sure it's great!

  • Q. If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and
what role would you play in that book?

Actually, I have no idea. I mean, I'd love to be one of Mr. Darcy's sister (I wouldn't steal him from Elizabeth!) or a Shawdowhunter. But maybe a role I would love to have is a Greek Goddess... yes! This is the one, I love Greek mythology and I know all about it so that should be the perfect role for me :)
Now, which Goddess? I have no idea, I like all of them. Maybe Artemis or Aphrodite... and if I go for the male God that would be Dionisos because I just love how crazy and great he is! (and because I'm crazy like that xD)

What about you, guys? Tell me a role you would love to have, I'm sure there's going to be really interesting answers, hahaha.

Also, if you have time, check my interview with Sharde Richardson, author of "Watched" HERE.

Interview: Sharde Richardson, author of "Watched"

    Interview with Sharde Richardson
     Author of: Watched

Alaiel: First of all, thanks for being here, Sharde. I was incredibly happy when you accepted my interview! :D
Sharde: No problem, Alaiel. I’m glad to be here. And I’m doubly glad your fiancé purchased my book for you. I owe him a thank you, as well.

    Questions about yourself.-

Alaiel: Tell us a little bit about yourself, like 4 things that you consider weird and unique about you.
Sharde: Well, for one, I’m lactose intolerant but I love cheese. Two, I like to visit cemeteries, especially cemeteries that aren’t well kept. Three, I prefer country life over city life any day of the week. And four, I find old people hilarious.

Alaiel: What is one of your favorite YA series? Why?
Sharde: Hm, I don’t know. I guess I could say Harry Potter, though I’m not sure that series started as YA. It was more MG in the beginning but crossed ove toward the end. So, yeah, Harry Potter is one of my favorite MG/YA series.

Alaiel: Where is your favorite place to write?
Sharde: I can write anywhere, I just have to be comfortable. Which, incidentally, may involve removing my shoes and socks.

Alaiel: What inspired you to become a writer?
Sharde: I wrote a dramedy comic strip in the second grade while in detention. I was a problem child to say the least. And since I spent so much of my youth in detention, my imagination ran wild and writing became a good outlet for me.

    Waiting on Wednesday (6)

    - "Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted in Breaking the Spine. This meme spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
    - If you want to participate add your "Waiting On Wednesday" to the linky list in her post!

I discovered this book last week and fell in love with it. I mean, not only the cover is amazingly pretty but the summary sounds really really good too! Can't wait to have it and write a review about it, yay!

    Name: Shatter Me
    Author: Tahereh Mafi
    Release Date: 15th November, 2011

    Official blurb:

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

So, what do you think, guys? Do you like it? I'd love to know your opinion and see yours WoW^^

    Release date: 30th May 2011
    Publisher: Jolt

    Summary from Goodreads:

Which is a total buzz kill.

To make matters worse, the town folk of Sulphur Springs don’t look the same, and her classmates are a little dark in the eyes. There are murders, suicides, reckless skinny-dipping, gratuitous use of Q-tips, and newfound powers that Mikayla must learn to control.

Her past becomes present when a shape-shifter tells her what her true identity is, and how to keep the demons of Hell from nipping at her Converse. Through him she’ll discover who to trust, who to kiss, and how valuable her abilities are to the right beings. Because the evils of Hell aren’t staying down without a fight.

Yesterday evening I finished one book but I need to share with you all at least two teasers of it because it was AWESOME!

    Watched by Sharde Richardson

"Today? What day was it? And where was I now? I blinked,
    trying to focus.
Two braces went from my thighs to my ankles.
    Blink.
A bandage wound around the middle of my chest to my shoulder.
    Hard blink.
I couldn't move my right arm. Couldn't move my legs.
    Eyes got watery."

His voice was low. "What is it that we're doing?"
"I don't know," I rushed out. my hands were sick for his touch. And the
way his eyes drank me in started a riot low in my belly. Shit. "I don't know. You just---
you know?--- with my hair. I'm pretty sure we are
    doing something... right?"

I honestly wish I could choose more teasers but there's just too many things that I loved about this book... My review is going to be up very, very soon!

Teasers, anyone? You can tease me little bit, I don't mind! :D

Update: My review is already HERE.
