Anne Rice is, surely, one of my favorite authors of all time (like, really really really favorite) that's why, when I got the chance to participate in this great blog tour I jumped up and down. After all, I recently read Fifty Shades of Grey and I loved it so I thought "Why not?". This was my chance to read Anne's erotica for the first time.

Did I love the book? Yes and no. Why? Well, let's see. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty was good. But at the beginning I was kind of scared... The first chapter is strong and I didn't know what to expect from there. From that point on I had a problem: the book was really truly strong, nothing at all like 50 Shades. But that's the point.
Although this book was way too much for me I realized something: THIS is real SDMS. Fifty Shades is good but, let's face it, I'm sure that it's kind of mild for the people that really practice SDSM.

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty has a lot of sex scenes, a lot of spanking and it has a background plot. And I really want to explain this. I've read a lot of hateful reviews about this book and I do understand what they mean but I have to make a statement: you can't read this trilogy thinking that sex is what you know of it. 'Cause it's not. Sex can be different for everybody and there is going to be people that like it strong and rough. So get over it.

My recommendation is, if you are curious, pick up this book. Chances are you will love it or you will hate it. But one of the fantastic things about books is that they make you consider things and think about them, right? that's why I like this book, it made me question myself and do my best to understand this kind of lifestyle.

Is this book for everybody? No, it's not. Did my opinion of Anne Rice work changed after reading this book? No, it didn't.
