Summary from Goodreads:
When Keri Daniels’ editor finds out she has previous carnal knowledge of reclusive bestselling author Joe Kowalski, she gives Keri a choice: get an interview or get a new job.
Joe’s never forgotten the first girl to break his heart, so he’s intrigued to hear Keri’s back in town—and looking for him. Despite his intense need for privacy, he’ll grant Keri an interview if it means a chance to finish what they started in high school.
He proposes an outrageous plan: for every day she survives with his family on their annual camping and four-wheeling trip, Keri can ask one question. Keri agrees; she’s worked too hard to walk away from her career.
But the chemistry between them is still as potent as the bug spray, Joe’s sister is out to avenge his broken heart and Keri hasn’t ridden an ATV since she was ten. Who knew a little blackmail, a whole lot of family and some sizzling romantic interludes could make Keri reconsider the old dream of "Keri+Joe 2gether 4ever".
Review By Alaiel Kreuz:
The first of the books in the Kowalski series is not as good as the third one, that's the true. Despite that, I had a good time reading it. This is not a book of only one story but of three that are told at the same time.
The main story is about Keri, a journalist that is only focused on her career, a career that is the most important thing in her life. When the time came for her to make her choices she didn't hesitate: a good job to be able to pay all the things she wanted was on top of her list. Even is for that she had to sacrifice her relationship with Joe Kowalski, her high-school sweetheart.
And she did it without looking back... or that's what she wanted to believe.
After their break up Joe had a rough time and the only thing that made his heart numb was to drink... a lot. Ironically him being drunk was a terrific thing for his writing career: he managed to make his own demons hunt the characters he created. And that how he became a bestselling author.
The day he had to learn to write without alcohol was a painful day but after a fight with one of his brothers and the realization that he had to choose between his family and being drunk he did the right choice.
And then something really unexpected happened: Keri's boss discovers about her past relationship with Joe and gives her an ultimatum: if she can't get an interview with him everything she's been working for in the last 18 years will dissapear.
And so she is dragged to a camping-family-trip. A Kowalski camping-family-trip. Far away from her posh life style she is about to discover all the good and bad things she's being missing all these years.
This book is better for a mature public, not only for the love scenes but for the characters itself. Their struggles will be better understood for people between 30-45 years old. But as I said before, I enjoyed it.

Sounds like a good one; I'll have to look for it. Thanks for your review.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Keri's choice one that most modern-day ambitious career women are afraid of? I know I am. I'm often afraid that I may just leave the guy I love to pursue a career opportunity. I hope I never find myself in that position. However, these kinds of stories interest me for the same reason:) Great review!
