World Wide Covers! #2 (My new meme)

I know it's Friday and this meme was supposed to be on Thursday but (and you can laugh all you want) I thought that yesterday was Wednesday... Sigh... So, anyway, Welcome to World Wide Covers!

A quick recap: What is this about? Well, most book lovers also enjoy pretty covers, right? Pretty covers help the selling of certain books improving the attention they may get. And we like to stare at them for as long as we can.
But what about the covers of other countries? What about the marvelous covers some publishers release for the books? We never get to see them unless we go looking for them.

This is were World Wide Covers! steps in. Maybe I will post a comparison or maybe I will show you a certain cover for a graphic novel. Some news you may find interesting.
From where? Everywhere! Japan, Korea, India, Brasil, Spain, Italy, Germany, etc, etc.

Can you participate? Of course, the more the merrier, right? So here are the rules:
- Create a post using the meme button sharing some love for the covers we don't usually find.
- Credit my blog, Librarian Mouse, by mention it or linking back here.
- Have fun!
There is nor a special day to post this meme since you may find pretty covers any day but I will try to stick to Thursdays as long as I can.

This week World Wide Covers! features Legend by Marie Lu.

Legend US cover

As you can see the US cover is very simple -and shiny- but it doesn't give information about the book itself. Nonetheless, I think it's a pretty cover.

June & Day legendary warriors

by Marie Lu
Release date: 28th May, 2012
Publisher: Shinchosha

Summary from Goodreads:
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

The Japanese cover design was done by Tatsuyuki Tanaka. And who is this guy? Well, if you are familiar with the movie Akira then you may know he was part of the design staff.

For those of you that didn't know there are a few exciting things about Legend going on right now so keep reading ;)

A game, created between Marie Lu herself, CBS Films and Wicked Sweet Games was recently released in Facebook! Cities of Legend will let you choose sides and fight for what you believe.

And since Marie Lu is a very versatile girl some of the character design comes straight from her! You can check her devianArt page HERE, her portfolio as a Graphic Designer HERE and her blog HERE.

The film adaptation of Legend is currently in progress (the director was chosen a few days ago) and hopefully we will be hearing more news about it very soon.

Would you buy it?

  8. @Disincentive: Yeah, the US cover is very very simple but it doesn't follow this constant trend of using models for covers, I think that's the main reason of why I like it :D
Saying that... the Japanese cover is wayyyyyyy better!
