Waiting on Wednesday (13) feat. Stormdancer

- If you want to participate add your "Waiting On Wednesday" to the linky list in her post!

This week my WoW goes to Jay Kristoff's debut book: Stormdancer. Why? Because since I set my eyes upon the UK cover I've been DYING to read it. And then the unexpected happened... The cover reveal for the US edition blew me away. Completely. Nothing was left of my sanity and I decided I was going to buy both editions. Yep, you read that right.
Reasons? Well, I'm getting to love steampunk books a whole lot now but, a steampunk book which plot develops in some sort of ancient Japan is just too awesome to be healthy. Can you imagine it? 'Cause after reading the blurb all I wanted to do was stare at both covers for a very long time.

And why my love for those covers? Let's see: The UK cover gives me some sort of peaceful feeling, of fullness, of honor if I may say. Very zen like, if you know what I mean.
The US cover in other hand is the complete opposite, it speaks of war, of blood and a girl ready to fight whatever comes in her way.

That's why Stormdancer is my WoW this week... and every other week too xD

UK Edition

Stormdancer
by Jay Kristoff
Release Date: 1st September, 2012
Series: The Lotus War #1

Official Blurb:

Griffins are supposed to be extinct. So when Yukiko and her warrior father Masaru are sent to capture one for the Shogun, they fear that their lives are over. Everyone knows what happens to those who fail him, no matter how hopeless the task.

But the mission proves far less impossible, and far more deadly, than anyone expects – and soon Yukiko finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in her country's last wilderness, with only a furious, crippled griffin for company. But trapped together in the forest, Yukiko and Buruu soon discover a friendship that neither of them expected.

Meanwhile, the country around them verges on the brink of collapse. A toxic fuel is slowly choking the land; the omnipotent, machine-powered Lotus Guild is publicly burning those they deem Impure; and the Shogun cares about nothing but his own dominion. Yukiko has always been uneasy in the shadow of power, when she learns the awful truth of what the Shogun has done, both to her country and to her own family she's determined to do something about it.

Returning to the city, Yukiko and Buruu plan to make the Shogun pay for his crimes – but what can one girl and a flightless griffin do against the might of an empire?

US Edition

Stormdancer
by Jay Kristoff
Release Date: 18th September, 2012
Series: The Lotus War #1

Official Blurb:

A DYING LAND
The Shima Imperium verges on the brink of environmental collapse; an island nation once rich in tradition and myth, now decimated by clockwork industrialization and the machine-worshipers of the Lotus Guild. The skies are red as blood, the land is choked with toxic pollution, and the great spirit animals that once roamed its wilds have departed forever.

AN IMPOSSIBLE QUEST
The hunters of Shima's imperial court are charged by their Shōgun to capture a thunder tiger – a legendary creature, half-eagle, half-tiger. But any fool knows the beasts have been extinct for more than a century, and the price of failing the Shōgun is death.

A HIDDEN GIFT
Yukiko is a child of the Fox clan, possessed of a talent that if discovered, would see her executed by the Lotus Guild. Accompanying her father on the Shōgun’s hunt, she finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in Shima’s last wilderness, with only a furious, crippled thunder tiger for company. Even though she can hear his thoughts, even though she saved his life, all she knows for certain is he’d rather see her dead than help her.

But together, the pair will form an indomitable friendship, and rise to challenge the might of an empire.

The name of each edition will take you to it's proper page in Goodreads in case you want to add it too :D

Cover reveal: Stormdander (US cover)

Maybe most of you know already (and if you don't then shame on you!) about the cover reveal of the US edition of Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff.

First, I fell in love with the UK cover (which I will show you at the end of this post so you can see it and droll) because is absolutely gorgeous. And then I read the blurb... and I fell in love again.
So I just had to find out who was the author... and he is so freaking cool!!! Let me tell you, just by reading his posts you can tell he is funny and original. One of those guys you can be friends with and enjoy their company.

But anywho, going back to the cover reveal (because that's why you are here) scroll down...

Do I love it? You can bet I do! I think at the end I'm going to buy both editions so I can have these beauties near me. On top of that the awesome Jason Chan actually did this cover (and I know him for his work doing the covers of Theatre Illuminata series which are beautiful to say the least).

And just so you know if you click HERE and go to Jay's website you will find an AMAZING giveaway going on right now (very similar to a Scavenger Hunt) so don't forget to pass by.

But before you go here is the UK cover in case you want to see it too:
