Dark Kiss

Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Pages: 348 (eARC thanks to NetGalley)

Summary from Goodreads:

I don't do dangerous. Smart, über-careful, ordinary Samantha-that's me. But I just couldn't pass up a surprise kiss from my number-one unattainable crush. A kiss that did something to me...something strange. Now I feel hungry all the time, but not for food. It's like part of me is missing-and I don't know if I can get it back.

Then there's Bishop. At first I thought he was just a street kid, but the secrets he's keeping are as intense as his unearthly blue eyes. If he's what I think he is, he may be the only one who can help me. But something terrifying is closing in, and the one chance Bishop and I have to stop it means losing everything I ever wanted and embracing the darkness inside me...

Review By Alaiel Kreuz:

Sam is the average girl, guys don't fall at her feet, she likes to study but doesn't love it, she lives alone with her mother and has a very loyal and cute friend called Carly.
And thanks to Carly she finds herself in the middle of a club where she sees her secret crush, a guy a few years older than her that never once looked her way. Until tonight when he asks her if it's okay to kiss her knowing that that kiss is going to change her life for ever.

Little does she knows he is not being cocky but very honest indeed... Now she has lost her soul and needs to do the same he did to other guys in order to stay alive.
But somehow she doesn't have the cravings, at least not horrible ones... And a group formed by two angels and two demons will help her find a way to get her soul back and unveil the truth about her past or finish her life for good if she becomes a real danger.

Now the only thing she can do is trust in Bishop, the leader of the group, and keep her feelings for him at bay.

Personal opinion:
We all know how books about angel and demons work, right? Good guys against bad guys and the ocasional alliance between them to destroy something worst than demons. Same old, same old.

So why would Dark Kiss would be different? Is not. Sorry, did I disappoint you? Not my intention at all, in fact I'm here to tell you the reasons you might like it. Because I did, and I would love to read the sequel now.

One of the things I liked the most is the fact that within this group sent to save the world we have two angels and two demons that have to work together even if they don't want to.
Bishop, the leader, shares some kind of past with Kraven, one of the demons, and it's really obvious they would prefer to be somewhere else entirely.
You see, angels and demons are supposed to be good or evil and that's that, right? Well, not here. Kraven has this secret side that is actually very nice but remains invisible for most of the book. And whenever someone threatens Sam's life Bishop turns into a very scary angel...

My favorite character is Kraven with his smirks, his characteristic sarcasm and his always funny comebacks. I seriously hope the author will write more about him in the next book.

As for Bishop and Sam's relationship... Here I'm not really sure how I feel. You see, yes, I like the way they are with each other but at times it felt kind of... forced? In my mind is kind of difficult to understand this instant and absolute love they feel towards the other.
But at the same point I kind of envy it and like it a lot.
So if you like books with love at first sight in them then this is your book. The good part is that although Sam likes Bishop a lot she does also manages to stay true to herself and seeks for answers on her own too.

We see battles, we see blood, we see people die and a lot of action too. The fact that they can steal your soul with a kiss adds the steamy part and the dialogues never fail to entertain. I like it when an author manages to balance a lot of things without loosing the main plot's direction.

Would I buy it? Yes. Would I recommend it? If you are a fan of Fallen, Hush Hush and the like then yes, I would.
